This position will be based full-time in either our Rockville, MD or future Tennessee office location (Chattanooga or Oak Ridge).

The target pay range for this position is $88,549 - $106,870 annually. The full pay range is $79,389 - $124,173 annually.

Interfaces with regulatory agencies on assigned activities. Prepares regulatory submittals based on and compliant with technical documentation, regulatory requirements and NuScale commitments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation, editing and reviewing of regulatory submittals originated within the Licensing Department to regulatory agencies in support of the NuScale licensing effort. Applies authoring, reviewing, editing, document planning, and organizational skills to assist in the preparation of large and complex nuclear license application as well as smaller technical and topical reports, and white papers.
- Conducts comprehensive research on regulatory requirements for the technical staff. Provides, or obtains interpretations, depending on levels of technical and legal complexity, of existing regulatory laws, requirements and guidelines to help guide the NuScale design or documentation requirements for a COLA or other licensing submittals.
- Assists in the establishment of licensing strategies for emergent regulatory issues and applicability evaluations, deviations, and exemptions in a manner that supports the NuScale design and business requirements.
- Participates in generic industry initiatives.
- Exercises judgment within standard practices and procedures: evaluates methods and technologies and recommends process and procedural improvements.
- Assists in the development, implementation, training, and maintenance of processes and procedures to ensure that the authors and production staff are working to efficient, effective, and compliant standardized work practices.
- Assists work within the budgets for labor (internal and contract), license fees and other costs as required for assigned licensing projects.

- Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of full-time Licensing and/or Engineering experience at a commercial nuclear power plant, nuclear reactor supplier, or nuclear industry architect-engineering firm is required. Demonstrable experience in negotiating with Regulators preferred.
