What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Sales Associate, Women's Health Boutique position at Nurturing Expressions?
Support Women. Build Community. Make a Real Difference.
Nurturing Expressions is hiring a Retail Sales Associate for our West Seattle women's health boutique. You bring the experience and the heart, and we'll teach you the rest. Experience in retail, healthcare, or customer service is a must, and experience supporting pregnant or nursing clients is a big plus. We provide full training on our products, fittings, and insurance.
WHO WE ARE
For more than 21 years, Nurturing Expressions has supported people through breastfeeding, pumping, postpartum recovery, and life after mastectomy. We help clients get the breast pumps and supplies their insurance covers, and we take the time to make sure everything fits and works for them.
We're a small, close-knit team that genuinely cares about one another and the clients we serve.
THE ROLE
You'll welcome each client, figure out what they need, and make sure they leave with the right products and the confidence to use them. The role blends client care and boutique sales with insurance questions, provider paperwork, and phones.
YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU
- Are warm by nature, as a genuine character trait and not a customer service technique
- Listen first and pick up on what a client actually needs, not just what they ask for
- Guide each client based on their needs, never on your own experience
- Stay calm and kind with someone who is exhausted, emotional, or frustrated
- Bring discretion to personal conversations, so clients feel at ease with you
- See recommending the right product as part of caring for someone, not a sales pitch
- Work accurately and keep things moving without someone telling you what's next
- Take pride in presentation, from the boutique floor to how a product goes home
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Welcome clients and guide each one to the right products for their situation
- Help clients pick up insurance-covered breast pumps and explain their coverage in plain, reassuring language
- Fit nursing bras, flanges, and compression garments
- Share the full range of options, including products insurance doesn't cover, so clients can choose what's right for them
- Answer phones and request prescriptions and paperwork from healthcare providers
- Keep accurate client records in Brightree
- Keep the boutique and fitting rooms clean, stocked, and welcoming
REQUIRED
- Experience in retail, healthcare, customer service, or supporting families
- Comfortable working in a women-centered healthcare environment, including helping clients with fittings
- Comfortable with sales and recommending products
- Available every Saturday
- Dependable attendance and comfortable with basic office technology
PREFERRED (not required, but we'd love it)
- Doula, CLC, or other lactation support training
- Experience working with pregnant, postpartum, or nursing clients
- Insurance knowledge, such as verifying coverage or prior authorizations
- Experience in DME, medical supply, or pharmacy
- Bra fitting, lingerie, or maternity retail experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
If this sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
