- Variable nights depending on need. Recent staffing changes mean coverage may include weekdays and weekends.

Additional Details:
- Floating: Rare; only one psych unit in the facility.
- Patient Population: Adults 18 presenting with a range of psychiatric and dual diagnosis conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, and substance/alcohol-related disorders.
- Unit Size: 14 beds, expanding to 20 beds within 3–6 months.
- Staffing Model Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:7 when at full census (2 nurses per shift).
- Medication administration, documentation, and clinical oversight/support for NAs
- RNs may assist with patient care as needed, including 1:1 observation.
- Safety Measures: Restraint/seclusion room on unit, Security currently assists with restraints, but nurses will undergo de-escalation training (TRUST training planned for spring). Hourly rounding required—RNs rotate hourly patient checks.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Travelers must be comfortable in a fast-paced acute behavioral health setting. Flexibility is key—nurses may occasionally function as a nurse tech or sit 1:1 for safety monitoring. The unit is expanding, and leadership is supportive of traveler integration.
- The clinician must have at least 2 years of experience in their discipline (RN, CST, CT Tech, etc.) as well as 2 full years of recent experience in the specialty they are being submitted for (Med/Tele, OR, etc.)
- Prior travel experience is not required, but highly preferred. Bassett provides only one day of orientation, so clinicians must be able to get up to speed quickly.

Our Center is a 180-bed, acute care inpatient teaching facility in Cooperstown, New York. We offer 24-hour emergency and trauma care, comprehensive cancer and heart care, dialysis, and most medical and surgical specialties. The Clinic is located on the same campus as the medical center, and provides outpatient primary and specialty care.
