Part-Time Pathologist (MD/DO) – Gastrointestinal (GI) or Molecular Genetic Pathology (MGP)
Bethesda, MD - Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
Nurses Etc. Staffing is partnering with the Federal Government to hire an experienced Pathologist Physician specializing in Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology or Molecular Genetic Pathology (MGP) to support Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada.
- Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: The incumbent will have documented expertise in one or more of the following Pathology subspecialty areas: Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology or Molecular Genetic Pathology with one year GI/Liver fellowship or specialized Molecular Genetic Pathology(MGP) Fellowship.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience within preceding 3 years in GI or MGP.
- Board Certification: AP and CP Board Certifications are required to provide anatomic and clinical pathology services.
- Licensure/Registration: A current, valid, unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as Pathologist Physician and GI or MGP Subject Matter Expert at WRNMMC
• Provide accurate and timely pathology diagnoses in accordance with College of American Pathologists guidelines and local policies
• Independently review, finalize, and sign out pathology cases
• Perform frozen section diagnoses
• Interpret surgical pathology, GI pathology, and/or molecular pathology specimens
• Consult with specialty practitioners regarding pathology findings and recommendations
• Participate in pathology research activities as needed
• Teach residents, fellows, and medical students through lectures, conferences, and sign-out sessions
• Develop and present educational lectures related to GI pathology, molecular pathology, and laboratory management
• Maintain competency in CoPath Plus (APLIS), AHLTA, Essentris (CliniComp), Dragon dictation software, MHS Genesis, and Microsoft Office
