Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with complex wounds while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with acute and chronic wounds.
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient evaluations and clinical guidelines.
- Perform wound debridement, suturing, and other necessary procedures to promote healing.
- Administer botulinum toxin treatments and dermal fillers as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Document patient progress accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Educate patients and families on wound care management and prevention strategies.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to advance wound care practices.
- Provide telehealth services as required, ensuring accessibility for all patients.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure high standards of patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or hospital settings preferred.
- Proficiency in medical documentation including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and familiarity with EMR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Knowledge of wound care protocols, infection control practices, and pain management techniques.
- Experience administering injections, IV infusion, venipuncture, and catheterization procedures.
- Familiarity with geriatric care, hospice & palliative medicine, and senior care environments is advantageous.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
