LPN / RN – School Pediatric Individual Care Nurse

Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas  |  2026–2027 School Year

$32.50 – $42.00 per hour

Pay depends on your license (LPN or RN) and the assignment.

Monday – Friday, school days only

Off holidays, weekends, and every school break.

This position offers a consistent weekday schedule aligned to the school calendar,

with no nights, weekends, or holiday shifts required.

Flexible schedules available: part-time set days, part-time flexible days, full-time, or PRN (as needed).

Position Overview

You will care for one child in a one-to-one assignment. Depending on the assignment, you will either ride with your student on school-provided transportation or meet your student at school. Same child, same school, every day. The continuity of this model allows you to build a working relationship with your student, their family, and the school team.

Nurses do not transport students. The school system provides bus or van transportation. You are never responsible for driving a student in your own vehicle.

Care is guided by the child's individual care plan and may include some of these details:

•          Tracheostomy care

•          G-tube feeding

•          Oxygen and respiratory monitoring

•          Seizure monitoring and PRN medication administration

•          Blood sugar monitoring

•          Behavior monitoring and redirection

•          Fall prevention and safety monitoring

•          Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), transfers, and positioning

•          Documenting care on a tablet

•          28203 – Elementary-age girl. Ride along, Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM. LPN $33.50 / RN $39.50. Seizure, asthma and behavior monitoring.

•          28213 – Elementary-age girl. Ride along. G-tube feedings, blood sugar and seizure monitoring. LPN $33 / RN $39.

•          28227 – Teen girl. Ride along, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM. LPN $33 / RN $39. Seizure monitoring, G-tube feedings, full ADL assistance.

•          28227 – Young adult, higher acuity. Meet at school, Tuesday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. LPN $33 / RN $39. G-tube, oxygen, seizure monitoring and ADL assistance.

•          28215 – Kindergarten-age girl. RN only, meet at school, Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. $42 per hour, plus ask us about the potential $80 daily bonus. Seizure monitoring, medication and ADL assistance.

•          28105 – Elementary-age boy. Meet at school, Monday – Friday, 7:45 AM – 2:45 PM. LPN $33 / RN $39. Stand-by assist with walking and transfers, safety and seizure-like episode monitoring.

Qualifications

•          Licensure: Active, unencumbered LPN or RN license: an NC license, or a multistate (compact) license issued by another compact state. If North Carolina is your primary state of residence, you must hold an NC license.

•          LPN: One year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years — direct patient care with transferable clinical skills (pediatrics, home care, long-term care, acute care, or private duty nursing)

•          RN: One year of related RN experience within the last 3 years, or one year of related LPN experience within the last 3 years

•          CPR: Current certification from an in-person course (online-only certifications are not accepted)

•          Online assessments: Willingness to complete online assessments

•          Higher acuity assignments: 6 months of relevant experience plus completion of online assessments

Newly licensed RN with prior LPN experience? If you recently passed your NCLEX-RN after practicing as an LPN, your prior LPN experience may satisfy the experience requirement for this position.

Additional Requirements

All candidates must successfully complete the following prior to assignment:

•          Criminal background check and drug screening

•          Health screening and tuberculosis testing in accordance with agency and school district requirements

•          Reference verification and license verification

•          Agency orientation and skills competency validation

•          Reliable transportation to your assigned school or meeting location

This position requires the ability to lift and reposition pediatric clients, assist with transfers, and remain alert and responsive throughout the assigned shift.
