Director of Community Relations
Location: Redwood City, CA (On-site)
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday
NurseAmerica is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Director of Community Relations to support a premier senior living community in Redwood City. This role is ideal for a professional with strong sales, outreach, and referral-network development experience—especially within senior living, long-term care, healthcare, or home care settings.
Position Overview
The Director of Community Relations plays a key role in driving community awareness, managing referral relationships, and supporting all aspects of sales and marketing efforts to ensure census growth. This is an in-person position that requires ongoing outreach, networking, and collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute quarterly and annual outreach plans aligned with community goals
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clinical and non-clinical referral sources
- Maintain detailed records of referral sources, outreach activities, appointments, and leads
- Conduct consistent follow-up with referral partners regarding prospective resident updates
- Visit residents in off-site care settings to support transitions and coordinate with social workers
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate special events to engage the community and drive brand visibility
- Represent the community at local events, networking groups, health fairs, and professional functions
- Maintain inventory of marketing materials and promotional items
- Conduct competitive market reviews to inform strategy and positioning
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community relations, outreach, or sales—preferably in senior living, retirement communities, or home care
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time-management and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM/property management systems
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Reliable transportation for continuous outreach visits
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
- Must pass required background checks and health screenings (including TB clearance)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Capability to lift/carry items over 25 lbs
- Frequent reaching at various heights
- Ability to stay calm, positive, and professional in high-pressure or fast-paced situations
