What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic position at Nunes Vegetables?
Nunes Cooling, Inc. has an immediate full-time position for a hard-working Maintenance Mechanic. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for working independently and as directed performing preventative, general maintenance and repair throughout the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities, which may be assigned.
- Conduct ongoing preventative maintenance for facility and equipment.
- Maintain production and utility equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
- Ensure facility exceeds government food safety standards and passes audits.
- Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Respond to emergency repairs as needed.
- Setup and breakdown mobile cooling equipment at the beginning and end of each processing season.
- Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses tools and equipment with care as instructed.
- Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records.
- Keeps work area clean and performs housekeeping duties as required.
- Follow all facility and OSHA required protocols including wearing the appropriate PPE for each given task
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 1-year experience with basic mechanic / maintenance knowledge
- High school diploma or GED
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English (to read labels, pick lists, scanners, signage, and updates, complete paperwork and follow verbal instructions).
- Ability to learn and understand the basics of complicated mechanical systems
- Consistently demonstrates accuracy, attention to detail, thoroughness and dependability.
- Maintains positive, professional attitude and work environment.
- Must be willing to travel overnight as needed.
- Must be available for overtime or weekend work as needed.
- In general, time off requests will not be approved during move season.
