Nuestro Mundo Public Charter School is a dual language (Spanish/English) public charter school serving a diverse community of learners in Providence, Rhode Island. We are seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive Middle School Language Development Teacher (Spanish) to support multilingual learners in developing their academic Spanish language proficiency. The ideal candidate is passionate about language development, equity, and working with diverse student populations in a dual language setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted Spanish language development instruction to middle school students (grades 6–8)
Support students in developing academic language skills across content areas
Collaborate with classroom teachers to align language supports with core instruction
Use data to inform instruction and monitor student progress
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including newcomers and long-term multilingual learners
Foster a classroom environment that is inclusive, engaging, and culturally affirming
Communicate effectively with families in Spanish and/or English
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Rhode Island certification in ESL, Bilingual Education, or World Language (Spanish)
Fluency in Spanish required
Experience working with multilingual learners preferred
Strong understanding of language acquisition and culturally responsive teaching practices
Commitment to equity and serving diverse communities
