Basic Job Functions:

The role of the District Sales Manager consists of, but is not limited to, providing industry leading service, developing a rapport with customers, prospecting for new business, operating as a liaison between customers and Nucor operations, forecasting, and proactive problem solving to help the team achieve revenue, shipment, and profitability goals. This position will require extensive travel and face-to-face interaction with customers that will result in powerful partnerships and powerful results. Candidate will spend quality time at the Nucor’s Bar Mills, working closely with plant leadership and the commercial team to increase customer engagement. Safety is the most important part of all jobs at Nucor; therefore, candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, and procedures always.

Detailed Selection Criteria:

  • Initiative: Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Problem Solving & Judgement/Decision Making: Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options to choose the most appropriate solution.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.
  • Builds Customer Relationships: Delivers clear and impactful messages, builds trust, manages customer priorities and influences outcomes.
  • Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques and Customer Relations Management (CRM).
  • Business Acumen: General business knowledge and an understating of how Nucor makes money.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bar Mill Steel knowledge
  • Sales or leadership experience in steel or related industry
  • 4-year college degree in business/marketing or field related to the steel industry
  • Located within the territory
