Nucor Rebar Fabrication is ready to build a world-class team as part of the launch of Nucor’s newest bar mill in Lexington, NC. Our fabrication shop will feature state-of-the-art machinery in a 100,000-square foot facility nestled in the beautiful scenery of Lexington, NC. Purpose:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with Maintenance and Production teams to maximize safety and optimize Nucor Rebar Fabrication processes.
Responsibilities:
- Training team members across locations to support consistent performance and knowledge sharing.
- Using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble shoot and improve both the process and equipment.
- Developing and implementing improvement plans involving both hardware and software systems.
- Providing support outside of normal business hours as needed, including flexible scheduling for unscheduled and scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Assisting with regional maintenance initiatives and supporting cross-site collaboration.
- Adapting to evolving responsibilities as assigned by the area Supervisor/Manager in response to operational needs.
- Traveling regularly to other regional NRF locations to identify improvement opportunities, resolve issues, and share best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Process, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related field OR
- 2 years of industrial maintenance and automation experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferences:
- aSa software experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment
Physical Demands:
- Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be necessary
- Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold
Special Demands:
- Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety-sensitive position
- Frequent travel to regional branches
