Basic Job Functions:
The Second Helper responsibilities consist of, but is not limited to, assisting the team with the operations and maintenance of the EAF, assisting in up-set conditions, sanding ladles, preparing and analyzing slag samples, making sure the furnace deck has needed supplies, operating an overhead crane and dropping charges, general housekeeping and a variety of other tasks related to the successful operation of the Melt Shop. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
