Position Summary:
The Activity Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive and engaging program of activities designed to meet the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of residents in the assisted living community. This position plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through meaningful and enriching experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a monthly calendar of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate and lead daily group and individual activities such as arts and crafts, music, games, fitness classes, outings, and holiday events.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to incorporate resident preferences and feedback.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, activity assessments, and documentation required by regulatory agencies.
- Build and maintain community relationships to bring in volunteers, entertainers, and guest speakers.
- Plan and oversee transportation arrangements for external outings.
- Decorate and organize community spaces for events and seasonal programs.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety and infection control standards.
- Support new resident orientation by introducing them to activity offerings and promoting social engagement.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or a related field preferred but not required.
- 1–2 years of experience in activity programming within an assisted living, skilled nursing, or senior care setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage residents of varying cognitive and physical abilities.
- Organized, creative, and enthusiastic with a passion for working with seniors.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to lead physical activities and assist residents as needed during events or outings.
Schedule:
Full-time, with availability for occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed for special events.
Pay is based upon experience and certifications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $24.00 per hour
