In-Person Medical Interpreter - Spanish

Nuance Languages has over 20 years experience in the translation/interpretation market. We are seeking professional interpreters with proven experience to accompany patients to doctor visits, help them fill out forms and act as the interpreter between doctor and patient. The interpreter is responsible for their own transportation.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Must speak Spanish and English

• Strict adherence to the Interpreters Code of Ethics (https://www.ncihc.org/assets/z2021Images/NCIHC National Code of Ethics.pdf0

• Must be able to reliably commute to this location

• Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol

• Provide clear and accurate renditions with no additions or omissions

• Employ good customer service and clear enunciation, pronunciation, pleasant and professional voice as well as polite forms of expression

• Follow client’s instructions, manage the flow of the communication and avoid taking over the communication, as well as avoid interaction with the Limited English proficiency speaker without client's permission

• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the assignment at all times

• Have access to the Internet or work related electronic communication

• Provide clarification and cultural brokering using excellent judgment and skill

• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment

Expectations:

• This is a freelance position

• As an Independent Contractor you will submit invoices as required by The Department of Labor.
