A Inside Sales employee typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Ensuring all POS transactions are handled with great attention to detail, and in a timely manner
- Staying current on sales items and promotions, products and equipment
- Maintaining superior customer sales standards
- Ensuring that all safety standards are met and maintaining a safe workplace environment
- Maintaining an awareness of current events in order to create a positive customer experience
- Assisting with inventory management when necessary
- Ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up to date
- Making sales suggestions and/or recommendations to customers as permitted
- Other duties as assigned
Inside sales employees need the following skills in order to be successful:
· Communication – Needed for answering questions, solving problems and providing information to customers and employees.
· Problem-solving – Needed for handling customer concerns and complaints.
· Teamwork – Needed to help complete tasks more efficiently.
· Time management – Needed to help be more effective in prioritizing task and delegating responsibilities to team members.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of some college coursework i.e. business, hospitality, or a related field, preferred.
Training & Experience:
Inside sales employees typically receive on-the-job training. This training may include learning about the products and services the business offers, the computer systems they use and the daily operations of the business. Training may also include learning about the company’s policies and procedures.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
The work environment for an inside sales employee is usually in a retail setting. Inside sales typically work a regular full-time schedule, although they may be required to work, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of their customers. The job can be stressful, as inside sales employees must be able to handle customer requests and demands, as well as meet sales goals.
