Job Overview
Purchasing agent is responsible for purchasing materials, hardware, parts and supplies needed for the manufacturing of aluminum windows and doors. This person must maintain accurate inventory records, communicate with vendors, negotiate pricing and ensure materials arrive on time so production is not delayed.
Because the company carries a large number of window and door components, the ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, dependable and willing to become familiar with all company product lines, profiles, hardware and accessories.
EXPERIENCE WITH WINDOWS, DOORS AND GLASS HIGHLY DESIRED.
Duties
- Request pricing and availability from suppliers.
- Prepare and submit purchase orders.
- Purchase aluminum extrusions, glass, hardware, fasteners, sealants, packaging materials and other production supplies.
- confirm pricing, quantities, lead times, freight charges and delivery dates before placing orders.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding open orders, back orders, shortages, damaged materials and delivery delays.
- Negotiate better pricing, volume discounts, payment terms and shipping arrangements.
- Compare pricing between vendors to obtain the best overall value.
Requirements
Purchasing person must be or become familiar with:
- window frames, sashes, vents, stops, mullions, transoms, adapters and covers.
- glass make ups.
- company window and door product lines.
- Communicate clearly and professionally by phone, email and in person.
- bilingual in English and Spanish communication is a plus.
PAY IS HIGHLY NEGOTIABLE DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
