About the Opportunity The College of Social Sciences and Humanities and its ten tenure units are the home of the Experiential Liberal Arts. Grounded in social justice, the Human Services Program is a dynamic undergraduate program that prepares students for careers in social change. Human service students engage in local, national and international practice and policy. Human service courses provide foundational learning to examine the development of social problems and innovative solutions. The Human Services Program is housed in the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. We seek to fill a full-time non-tenure track job opening for an Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Full Teaching Professor. This is an academic year teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion through an established track from Assistant Teaching Professor to Associate Teaching Professor to Full Teaching Professor. Reappointment letters are issued prior to July 1 of the applicable year. The appointment will be on Northeastern’s Boston campus to begin in spring or fall semester 2026. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching six (6) courses per academic year, advising students, participating in program, college, and university service activities, and engaging in professional development. Teaching responsibilities will consist of core classes in the curricula that align with expertise. Courses could include Counseling in Human Services, or Race, Identity, Social Change, and Empowerment, Techniques in Individual and Group Counseling and Principles and Practices of Trauma-informed Care. The person in this role will also teach elective courses that align with individual strengths and curricular needs as well as contributing to and developing co-curricular undergraduate programming and opportunities. People with clinical practice experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Qualifications: Ph.D. or clinical doctorate (DSW, PsyD, etc.) in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related fields in hand by the employment start date is required. Pay Range: Assistant Teaching Professor: $65,000 - $82,000 | Associate Teaching Professor: $73,000 - $94,000 | Teaching Professor: $81,000 - $105,000 With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
