What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC MACHINE PROGRAMMER/OPERATOR (PROGRAMMER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED) position at Nu-Core?
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine operator to take ownership of daily operations within our CNC department, centered around six Haas CNC mills machining copper components utilized in the steelmaking industry.
What You’ll Do
- Operate and maintain multiple Haas CNC mills with a focus on quality, efficiency, and uptime
- Work with large copper workpieces, requiring attention to detail and process discipline
- Collaborate directly with our head designer to optimize programs and machining strategies
- Manage tooling and insert inventory to minimize downtime
- Coordinate with administration on production, scheduling, and purchasing
- Contribute ideas and feedback to help us improve -this is a collaborative environment, not a top-down workflow
- Support a multi-process manufacturing environment, including interaction with welding operations
What We’re Looking For
- Proven CNC machining experience, both in ops and programming (required)
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems (preferred, not required)
- Experience operating forklifts and working with cranes/rigging (strongly preferred)
- Background in multi-process manufacturing environments with the ability to read a blueprint
- Strong sense of ownership, communication, and problem-solving
- Willingness to work up to 50 hours per week as production demands require
- Ideally located within one hour of Charlevoix, MI
