What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chocolate Production Assistant position at NU Chocolat?
NU Chocolat is a family owned and operated chocolate boutique modeled in the Swiss tradition. We run a small, professional chocolate production lab onsite with our vibrant retail boutique on the Waterfront in Burlington, Vermont. This is an opportunity to work with beautiful single origin chocolates of the highest caliber in an intimate workshop setting. Chocolate work is science and skill based and is a craft to be developed, quite unique from cooking or baking.
In this position you will be supporting the chocolatiers during our busy Holiday production. Including but not limited to:
- Loading chocolates onto the enrobing machine
- Helping with chocolate bar production
- Hand-cutting praline bars
- Hand-dipping orange slices into chocolate
- Project cleanup and dishwashing (hand-washing full size sheet trays, cutting boards, loading dishwasher, putting dishes away, etc)
- General cleaning, mopping, etc.
Important skills for you to have include:
- Experience working in a professional kitchen or food business
- Upper body strength for moving heavy trays, frames, etc.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Comfortable working on your feet and moving all day
- Able to focus for extended periods of time on certain tasks
- Take pride in doing excellent work and maintaining a high standard
- Able to take responsibility for your duties and be self motivated
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
