Summary:
Heat Treat Operator is responsible for operating CNC lathe and/or milling machine. Loads and inspects parts, changes offsets and tooling. Heat Treat Operator position ensures parts are heat treated through an induction heat treat process. Work is performed in a manufacturing setting standing and walking on concrete floors throughout an 8 to 12 hour shift with frequent handling of metal parts weighing 1 to 5 pounds, visual inspection, occasional bending or reaching, use of hand tools, use of up to 50 lbs. of force to move heavy loads on wheels.
Starting Wage: $19.00
We offer a 2nd shift differential of $2.00 per hour and 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At NTA Precision Axle, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
Essential Job Functions
- Machine Operations – Check specs, load/unload production lines.
- Utilize measurement tools such as pre-set gauges to verify quality of production.
- Perform visual inspection of parts.
- Make necessary offsets.
- Change/adjust production tooling.
- Complete forms recording production results.
- Daily preventative maintenance, remove and dispose of chips/shavings, replenish fluids/lubricants,
- Comply with ISO 16949 & 14001 requirements, safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas - perform 5S cleaning responsibilities.
- Reads job instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; demonstrated ability to add and subtract decimals with high degree of accuracy.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to automated or robotic equipment
- Must be able to read and interpret piece part drawings and make decisions regarding part quality and offset changes.
- Must have experience in machining and using measuring tools such as drop indicators, dial bore gauges, plug gauges, fixture related pin gauges.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment running multiple production lines, prioritizing tasks to maximize efficiency.
- Able to maintain regular and predictable attendance, work overtime and weekends as needed.
