Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Mechanical Construction
Location: Garland, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Hourly
Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager provides day-to-day support to the project team by helping manage documentation, submittals, procurement follow-up, scheduling support, permits, inspections, and closeout requirements. This position plays an important support role in keeping projects organized, compliant, and moving forward.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail‑oriented, brings a positive attitude to the team and fast-paced construction environment, and enjoys supporting multiple projects at once.
Typical Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Prepare, track, and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date project documentation, including:
- Job setup documents
- Schedules of values
- Budgets and billings
- Submittals and shop drawings
- Closeout documentation
- O&M manuals
- LEED documentation (as applicable)
- Warranty letters
- RFIs and PCOs
- Assist with equipment and material procurement in accordance with contract documents
- Help manage submittals, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and delivery follow‑up
- Coordinate and track submittals and shop drawings through approval
- Schedule inspections and assist with permit procurement
- Coordinate with Superintendents and Labor Managers regarding:
- Manpower
- Materials and tools
- Equipment
- Inspections and permits
- Use company forms, software, and procedures to ensure consistency across projects
- Provide general administrative and project support to Project Managers as needed
- Experience in construction, project coordination, or project support
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, field leadership, vendors, and internal teams
- Proficiency with standard office software and ability to learn company systems
- Mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or commercial construction experience is a plus
