NSI Industries is seeking an experienced and skilled Payroll, Tax & Compensation Specialist. This role is integral and crucial to the success of the HR Service Center and the larger HR organization. It will oversee all aspects of our outsourced payroll processing, tax compliance, and evaluate job positions to ensure the company is competitive with salaries. The role will support annual HR processes like performance management, compensation planning, and year-end closing. It requires a high level of accuracy, accountability, confidentiality, and expertise.
This is not just a position but a hands-on role. The Payroll, Tax, & Compensation Specialist will actively support managers and HRBPs. This role is required to be onsite at our Huntersville, NC location.
Responsibilities:
Payroll & Tax
- Support payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payment to all employees.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, deductions, etc.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and payments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll & tax data to ensure accuracy & compliance.
- Ensure accurate yearend closing.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve pay-related issues timely.
- Support and respond to all payroll related audits.
Compensation
- Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position, ensure that descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed.
- Assess jobs and duties to determine classification as exempt/nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
- Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
- Conducts data and cost analyses to be used in employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.
- Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales.
- Advises management on applicable state and federal employment compensation policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in payroll, tax compliance, and compensation with demonstrated expertise.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer Service orientation.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency ADP Workforce Now
- Strong data analysis capabilities and experience with HR metrics. Ability to present data that tells a story.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
