Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor-in-Residence of Cybersecurity, Lee Business School [R0150760]. ROLE of the POSITION The Department of Information Systems (IS) in the Lee Business School (LEE) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for one 9-month, non-tenure track Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor-in-Residence position in the area of Cybersecurity. The standard teaching load for a non-tenure track position is 4 courses (12 credits) per semester, and two semesters per year. The position requires teaching online-only undergraduate courses in cybersecurity offered by the department. Additional responsibilities may include advising and mentoring students, course development, engaging in service activities, and creating a sense of belonging and community within the entirely online undergraduate cybersecurity program. This position will be housed in the department of Information Systems (IS) within the AACSB accredited Lee Business School. The IS Department works with the Department of Computer Science in the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering to jointly offer the BS and MS Cybersecurity degree programs. The cybersecurity programs at UNLV are interdisciplinary and involve faculty from the Lee Business School Information Systems Department and the College of Engineering, primarily the Computer Science Department. The undergraduate cybersecurity program is under the direction of the Director of Cybersecurity, who oversees both the undergraduate and MS Cybersecurity programs. This directorship rotates between the departments. PROFILE of the COLLEGE and DEPARTMENT Lee Business School is among the top 2 percent of business colleges and schools worldwide to hold international dual accreditation in business and accounting by AACSB International. As one of the largest schools at UNLV with approximately 4,500 undergraduate students, 500 graduate students, more than 140 faculty and staff, and 25,500 alumni, Lee Business School offers 10 undergraduate majors, 12 minors, and seven graduate degree programs. The MBA program has ranked in the top 100 part-time MBA programs for the past five years according to U.S. News and World Report. In addition to its scholastic endeavors, Lee Business School is home to four centers that connect faculty and students with business and industry: Troesh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER), Lied Center for Real Estate, and Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management. The Department of Computer Science is one of the fastest growing departments at UNLV. Comprising just under half of the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering total enrollment, the department’s focus is on providing a well-rounded education with a solid basis in the fundamentals of computer science. Our students and alumni are well-represented in the field, with many taking on employment locally and nationally. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a cybersecurity-related master’s degree (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, etc.) from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS An applicant with the following will be given preference: A cybersecurity-related PhD degree from an accredited college or university Evidence of effective and impactful online teaching Prior academic or industry experience in technology or cybersecurity Certifications that pertain to the field of cybersecurity Technical skills related to the use of and instruction of cybersecurity tools The title of the position will be determined based on the candidate's academic degree and experience. A candidate with a terminal PhD degree will be considered for the title of Assistant Professor-in-Residence. A candidate with a master’s degree and significant experience will be considered for the title of Senior Lecturer. A candidate with a master’s degree but without significant experience will be given the title of Lecturer.
