Safety Manager for our Marine Division in Norfolk, VA
Location: Hybrid 50% nationwide travel
Position Purpose:
The Marine Division Safety Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the temporary workforce in the Marine Division. They will be responsible for identifying and mitigating potential safety, health, and environmental hazards within our shipyards nationwide. By partnering with our host employers and developing and implementing comprehensive safety procedures, conducting routine
inspections, and providing essential training, they will contribute to a secure and sustainable work
environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct thorough workplace inspections within the shipyards, to identify and mitigate safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Develop and implement robust inspection policies, procedures, and a routine inspection schedule.
- Create comprehensive health and safety procedures that encompass all aspects of our company operations.
- Review procedures of branch safety contacts for accuracy.
- Evaluate client site training for adequacy.
- Prepare and schedule training sessions covering emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics in cooperation with our client programs and needs. Conduct Maritime OSHA training
- Continuously monitor and ensure compliance with established safety procedures.
- Possess an extensive knowledge of Maritime and Industrial EHS regulations and policies.
- Draft detailed inspection reports to document findings accurately.
- Keep records of workplace incidents and injuries and conduct incident investigations as needed within the Marine division
Minimum experience level required
- 5 years Maritime Industry Safety Experience- preferably in a management role
Education Requirements
- Bachelor or Higher Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Industrial Hygiene from an accredited college or university. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Marine Chemist (CMC) designation may be substituted for two years of experience.
- OSHA Maritime Trainer Certification preferred- or will need to be obtained within 6 months of employment
Analytical Skills
- Conducting Job Hazard Analysis and reviewing any industrial hygiene sampling results that may be relevant to the protection of our employees.
Physical Requirements
- Should be able to wear any required PPE to assess and audit shipyards. Should be able to walk distances, climb, squat, etc.
Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
