Job Description
NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Pipefitter with silver brazing experience for an immediate opportunity supporting shipyard operations in Lynnwood, WA. This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson with strong shipboard pipefitting experience who can work independently, read blueprints, and deliver high-quality installations while maintaining strict safety standards.
Position Overview
As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for the layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of shipboard piping systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with various pipe materials and joining methods, including silver brazing, tack welding, and soldering.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of shipboard piping systems
- Prepare joints for welding or brazing per system specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches
- Accurately lay out offset and rolling offset bends
- Assemble and install flanges, fittings, hangers, and supports
- Operate pipe bending and threading machines, torches, and trade tools safely
- Conduct air and water system testing to verify integrity
- Fabricate mock-ups and jigs for prefabrication within tolerances
- Work with copper, CuNi, NiCu, CRES, and steel piping
- Perform silver brazing, soft soldering, tack welding, and burning as required
- Supervise and train junior mechanics as needed
- Follow all shipyard safety requirements and PPE guidelines
- Maintain dependable attendance and work effectively independently or in a team
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of shipboard pipefitting experience
- Proficient in blueprint reading and fabrication from sketches
- Skilled with pipe benders, threaders, saws, grinders, and drill presses
- Firewatch certification
- Ability to work in confined spaces and physically demanding environments
- Strong safety awareness and reliable work ethic
Tool Requirements
Candidates must provide a basic pipefitting tool set, including but not limited to:
- Screwdrivers, pliers, markers, and tip cleaners
- Tubing cutters, channel locks, and combination wrenches
- Pipe wrenches (14” & 18”) and crescent wrenches (mini & standard)
- Socket set up to 1¼”
- Hammer, center punch, file, pry bar, and striker
