What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney position at NRS Injury Law?
Represent and counsel clients concerning their legal rights and obligations in Workers’ Compensation cases. Monitor cases to ensure that clients are receiving all entitled benefits. When appropriate negotiate with adjusters and respondent attorneys to secure a fair, timely, and reasonable settlement for the client and /or a resolution of the worker compensation claim.
Position Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the client and medical providers regarding treatment and to answer questions.
- Meet with existing, new, and potential clients and manage their expectations
- Provide a world-class client experience in a professional and ethical manner
- Follow the Firm’s operating procedures and case management system guidelines
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with support team
- Attend hearings before administrative bodies and courts throughout Ohio
- Provide thorough review of each case and evaluate case material to determine necessary tasks and next steps. Review files for evaluation, treatment status, and range of value
- Provide coverage and support as needed to other attorneys
- Demonstrate the core values of the firm: be a champion for others and be accountable
- Ultimately responsible to recognize and properly handle liens, letters of protection, notice requirement and LIM dates on every file
- Ongoing administrative maintenance of checklist items
- Build relationships that result in referrals
Other Information Relevant to the Position:
- Occasional travel for coverage in other office locations and to courts
Education, Experience, Qualifications, Licenses, & Certifications Required:
- Education – Undergraduate and JD required
- Experience – Minimum 3 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation
- Licenses – Ohio Bar
- Technology Skills – Competence in file management software and Microsoft Office

Key Performance Indicators:
- Place an introductory call within 24 hours of being assigned a new case
- Contact client once every 60 days
- Date from case settled to check received does not exceed 90 days
- X number of settlements per month
- 70% of cases have no fee reductions
- Client terminations fewer than 5 per year
- Fewer than 10 cases with no notes for more than 90 days
