Engage Wellness is an outpatient behavioral health treatment center providing Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) services in Acton, Massachusetts. We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated Primary Therapist to join our growing team. Position Summary
The Primary Therapist is responsible for providing individual, group, and family therapy services to clients receiving treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. The therapist develops individualized treatment plans, completes clinical documentation, participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and collaborates with referral sources, families, and the treatment team to promote successful recovery outcomes.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field required.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field preferred.
Licensure (Massachusetts)
Applicants must possess one of the following Massachusetts licenses or be license-eligible:
- LICSW – Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
- LCSW – Licensed Certified Social Worker
- LMHC – Licensed Mental Health Counselor
- LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
- LADC I or LADC II – Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
Experience treating Substance Use Disorders (SUD), Co-Occurring Disorders, Dual Diagnosis, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, and other behavioral health conditions is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Complete psychosocial assessments and comprehensive clinical evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy.
- Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups.
- Review referrals and collaborate with referral sources.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Monitor patient progress and update treatment plans as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Coordinate discharge planning and aftercare services.
- Maintain communication with families and outside providers.
- Respond appropriately during behavioral health and medical emergencies.
- Apply evidence-based treatment modalities including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Maintain professional boundaries and uphold ethical standards.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards and Massachusetts regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in PHP, IOP, residential, or outpatient behavioral health.
- Knowledge of ASAM Criteria.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and crisis intervention skills.
