Job Summary
- The Billing Analyst is responsible for identifying and engaging all resources, both internal and external to continually improve processes to produce prompt and accurate customer invoices.
- The Billing Analyst is considered a subject matter expert, is responsible for leading project work and facilitating solutions for critical or global billing issues and works under limited supervision with a focus and direct impact on the customer experience.
- Research invoice issues/concerns and provide corrections.
- Analyze and apply critical thinking to invoice differences.
- Prepare appropriate written reports to include findings and recommendations.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely review and analysis of all NRG Business billing system inputs.
- Identify systemic drivers of billing defects and implement permanent fixes.
- Maintain SOPs and process maps to ensure consistent handling and auditability.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support continuous review of all rates and indices including the mathematical analysis used to derive them.
- Translate findings into clear explanations for Customer Care/Sales/Account Management and help draft customer-facing explanations.
- Responsible for identifying and closing operational gaps.
- Participate in cross functional process improvement teams to realign operational focus on automating and streamlining the invoice generation process.
- Responsible for accurate power revenue recognition.
- Prepare and maintain billing KPIs and regulatory compliance audits.
- Perform other duties as needed and expected to proactively identify improvement opportunities.
- Open office environment or fully remote work options available.
- Travel: Less than 5%.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, and 2–4 years of experience, or in lieu of a degree, 2–4 years of equivalent work experience specifically within the retail energy industry.
- An effective communicator with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Demonstrates ability of billing practices and procedures within a particular business field.
- Demonstrates ability in using Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel, and SQL.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a pressure paced environment.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
