Job Description At the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), we focus on creative answers to today's energy challenges. Partnerships with industry, other federal agencies, non-profits, and universities are how we accelerate the transfer of technologies developed at NREL into the marketplace. To support the Technology Transfer Office for the Innovation, Partnering and Outreach (IPO) Directorate, NREL is seeking a Technology Partnership Agreement Specialist to administer, extend, negotiate, and seek approval for standard contracts including nondisclosure, material transfer and bailment agreements. In this role you will guide researchers through the process of establishing these agreements, advise management and other staff of contractual rights and obligations, compile and analyze data, and maintain records. As a member of the Technology Transfer Office, you will interface with NREL’s leading researchers in areas such as bioenergy, solar power, wind power, hydrogen, and electric vehicles and learn about a broad spectrum of clean energy research that NREL conducts with our partners. To successfully accomplish their job duties, the Technology Partnership Agreement Specialist will: Work within statutory requirements, the prime contract with the Department of Energy and NREL policies to apply principles to develop non-disclosure, material transfer and bailment agreements. Consult with the Office of General Counsel to evaluate non-standard changes to agreements and negotiate proposed solutions with the partner organization. Finalize and coordinate signature of agreements. Enter and consult information in databases. Monitor end dates and terminate or extend agreements as necessary. Assist in the reporting of results. Identify and implement process improvements, including updates to templates and practices, and participate in department improvement initiatives. . Basic Qualifications Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Frequent application of industry concepts and principles. General knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs. * Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date. Additional Required Qualifications Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques. Provides solutions to a variety of issues of moderate scope and complexity. Work under general supervision and follow established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Ability to use various computer software programs. The successful candidate will exhibit the following characteristics: Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft professional correspondence. Excellent organizational skills to manage, track and negotiate agreements. Ability to handle multiple projects under limited supervision, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and be a strong team player with willingness to take initiative. Strong customer service, teaming, and interpersonal skills. Ability to use various computer software programs, including good working knowledge of database and data reporting tools, to track progress and facilitate sharing of electronic technical summaries. Proficient in PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to effectively work in an environment in which you will be exposed to confidential information and documents. Detail oriented with superior proof-reading skills. Experience working in a legal and/or contracting organization Experience working for government agency(s) Excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency with Acrobat; Microsoft Office components Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; cloud collaboration applications Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and One Note Preferred Qualifications . Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Job Profile: Professional II / Annual Salary Range: $63,600 - $104,900 NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
