Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in a Health and Human Services field, Social Work or Education. Experience: Required – With a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 3 years related direct service experience. Preferred – Bachelor’s degree will substitute for experience. Job Summary: The Parent Educator is responsible for using sound professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population while maintaining compliance with established program standards. Essential Functions: 1. Establish and maintain a trusting and professional working relationship with families through regular contact, including personal visits. 2. Administer intake, assessments, pre-post surveys/assessments and screening tools to clients and family members. 3. Utilize intake and assessment results to establish and effectively implementing goals, objectives, and activities identified with parents. 4. Meet with the supervisor to evaluate the status of families on caseload. 5. Lead outreach activities at community events, program events, and other relevant venues to engage eligible families. 6. Develop, together with the Director, updates, reminders, and community education information. Measurable Deliverables: 1. Facilitate structured group sessions using the Nurturing Parenting® curriculum modules. 2. Enroll and serve a minimum of 10 clients per month for 7 weekly sessions for 60-90 minutes. 3. Facilitate support groups to provide emotional support, resources, and a sense of community for those coping with deployments, frequent relocations, and the stress of service-related experiences every two weeks for two hours. 4. Attend all the training required for certifications. 5. Record all group and individualized services and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into all database platforms. 6. Report on suspected child abuse and neglect to administrator and law enforcement agency. 7. Ability to maintain confidentiality with clients and staff. 8. Demonstrate the ability to: a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics. b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English. c. Work in a fast-paced environment. d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. f. Travel as needed. 7. Other job duties as assigned per grant requirements. Requirements: 1. Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR. 2. Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation. 3. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens. 4. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request. 5. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
