- Coordinate internally with engineers, drafters, and the broader design team/consultants to ensure successful project delivery.
- Act as the Prime Consultant on projects and lead other design professionals.
- Attend meetings with clients and design team members and serve as the primary point of contact.
- Lead the design of buildings varying in size, use, and complexity.
- Maintain overall responsibility for the management of assigned projects.
- Provide guidance and mentor junior team members.
- Function as Project Engineer on projects as needed.
- Prepare construction drawings and develop structural systems using a variety of materials.
- Prepare structural calculations to justify design solutions.
- Perform construction administration tasks, coordinate with construction professionals, conduct site visits, review shop drawings, and respond to RFIs.
- Perform feasibility studies and existing conditions assessments.
- Establish project fees and track costs to maintain budgets and profitability.
- Monitor project schedules to meet design team commitments and exceed client expectations.
- Review deliverables and provide quality assurance and quality control.
- Draft proposals and review contracts.
- 510 years of structural engineering experience in Healthcare (OSHPD) projects.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering with an emphasis/specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Master's degree (M.S.) in Structural Engineering (Preferred).
- California Structural Engineer (S.E.) License.
- Relevant experience with structural materials including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, metal studs, and seismically active areas.
- Proficiency with structural engineering design software: ETABS, RISA 3D, SAFE.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards for the design and construction of major healthcare (OSHPD) building projects.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
