About the Role
A large, complex, and highly regulated organization is seeking a Network Engineering Manager to lead the design, stability, and ongoing evolution of enterprise network services. This role is responsible for overseeing the architecture, performance, and reliability of voice, data, video, and wireless environments across both local and wide-area networks.
The Network Engineering Manager combines deep hands-on networking expertise with strong leadership, strategic planning, and vendor management capabilities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructure that supports mission-critical operations and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, design, and manage enterprise LAN and WAN environments to ensure reliable delivery of voice, data, video, and wireless services
Establish and enforce network policies, standards, and operational procedures
Monitor, analyze, and optimize network performance, availability, scalability, and security
Lead network capacity planning and align infrastructure strategy with business growth and technology roadmaps
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex network incidents and service disruptions
Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define network requirements for new systems and initiatives
Oversee provisioning, lifecycle management, and upgrades of network infrastructure and services
Manage financial aspects of network operations, including budgeting, purchasing, and cost optimization
Develop business cases and cost-benefit analyses for infrastructure investments
Negotiate and manage vendor, service provider, and consultant relationships
Lead, mentor, and develop network engineering staff, including hiring, performance management, and scheduling
Ensure secure and resilient connectivity across all network-attached systems and appliances
Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, configurations, diagrams, and procedures
Develop and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and network security policies
Research and evaluate emerging networking technologies to drive continuous improvement
Oversee implementation of new hardware, software, and network upgrades

Bachelors degree in a computer-related field or equivalent professional experience
Experience
Approximately 8 years of progressive experience supporting enterprise network environments
Proven success designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale, high-availability network infrastructures
Technical Skills
Experience working in complex or regulated environments preferred
Strong knowledge of enterprise networking platforms, protocols, and architectures
Hands-on experience with OSPF, BGP, DNS, DHCP, SPB, and SDN
Network capacity planning, security principles, and operational best practices
Proficiency with network testing tools for voice and data circuits
Ability to interpret technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and vendor specifications
Working knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and security requirements
Certifications
Industry-recognized networking certifications (associate, professional, or expert level) preferred
Vendor-specific or enterprise networking certifications strongly preferred
Soft Skills
