This individual will be responsible for independently developing, modifying, optimizing and troubleshooting CMM programs, primarily using PC-DMIS. The role will work closely with Quality, Engineering, machinists and inspectors to support production, resolve dimensional issues and ensure inspection requirements are accurately captured.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, create, modify and optimize CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS.
- Create complete CMM programs from engineering drawings, CAD models and specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspection of complex, precision-machined components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T requirements and customer specifications.
- Ensure all required dimensions and characteristics are properly captured within inspection programs.
- Troubleshoot and correct CMM programming issues, machine errors and CMM crashes.
- Maintain and update CMM program revisions as production and engineering requirements change.
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering, machinists and inspectors to resolve dimensional and programming issues.
- Support production by completing assigned programming work within expected timelines.
- Assist inspectors and production personnel with CMM-related questions and technical support.
- Utilize portable CMM equipment and software such as ROMER/FARO arms and Verisurf when applicable.
- Share technical knowledge and contribute to a team-oriented quality environment.
- Strong hands-on experience programming CMMs using PC-DMIS.
- Ability to independently create complete CMM inspection programs from scratch using engineering drawings or CAD models.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Experience inspecting complex, tight-tolerance, precision-machined components.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot, modify, and optimize CMM programs and resolve CMM-related issues.
- Experience working in a production machining or precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with Quality, Engineering, machinists, and inspectors.
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree is not required.
- Aerospace, defense, or AS9100 manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with Verisurf, ROMER arms, or FARO arms is a plus, but not required.
- Day shift preferred with a standard 40-hour workweek.
