What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postsecondary Success Coordinator position at Nowell Leadership Academy?
The mission of Nowell Academy is to ensure that Rhode Islands pregnant, parenting and underserved youth graduate from high school with the knowledge and skills they need to be prepared for success in college, career, and family life. The Nowell Academy Postsecondary Success Coordinator is willing to work hard to ensure the academic success of all Nowell Academy students. The Postsecondary Success Coordinator serves on the Student Life and Postsecondary Team. This team is responsible for developing student life, pathways to graduation, and post-secondary planningthe comprehensive student experience from initial recruitment to post-graduation.
This position reports to the Supervisor of Student Life and Postsecondary Success. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include: -Teaches year-long Senior Seminar course using the Post Secondary Success curriculum and implements comprehensive college & career advisement including FAFSA completion, Common Application, Accuplacer, etc;-Support senior cohort through an advisory, closely supporting and monitor the senior class to ensure Nowell meets graduation targets and requirements;-Develop and foster key relationships with industry partners, RI higher education, certification programs, and representatives from various professional sectors -Develop and oversee the implementation of student internships;-Organize and lead college/university visits;-Supports the development of the Student Life and Postsecondary Success team; ensuring the team is reaching its overall goals. Other General Responsibilities include: -Maintain consistent and reliable attendance within established policies; -Actively create a positive school culture that demonstrates high expectations for students matched with a high level of support;-Model and uphold positive standards for school climate, including professional behavior and habits;-Foster a school climate that supports Nowells mission, promotes respect and appreciation for all members of the community, including students, staff, and families;-Engage in strong, collaborative and productive relationships with students, families, community partners;-Participate in professional learning and attend all staff, team, and Nowell community meetings;-Fully participate in all surveys, focus groups and interviews providing honest and meaningful feedback as directed by Nowell leadership;-Complete all required evaluations and receive satisfactory ratings;-Other duties as required by the Principal and Executive Director to ensure the effective operation of the school.Additional Qualifications & Competencies: You demonstrate a core belief that all students can and will succeed with the right wraparound support.You attend each day prepared to further enhance Nowells mission with joy and enthusiasm.
