Registered Pharmacy Technician (Outpatient/Chemotherapy & Sterile Compounding)
On Site - Cranberry Township, PA 16066
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire (Permanent placement on company payroll with full benefits; not a temporary job)
Location: Cranberry Township, PA 16066
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (Monday–Friday daylight schedule; no evenings, weekends, or holidays required)
Work Arrangement: On-site (Float role supporting local oncology site network locations in the area as needed)
New Hire Starting Base Pay: $18.99 – $21.27 per hour (Starting placement within the range is determined by direct pharmacy technician, sterile compounding, or oncology retail/clinical pharmacy experience.)
Future Earning Potential: Position hourly rate progresses up to $28.11 per hour over time through performance, tenure, and pharmacy technician career ladder advancement. ($5,000 sign-on bonus available).
Mandatory Qualifications
- Licensure & Registration: Active Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy Registration required (or active Pharmacy Intern License). Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) national certification preferred.
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent required, along with one (1) of the following:
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
- Minimum of six (6) months of previous pharmacy technician experience
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the health system
- Current active enrollment in good standing in an undergraduate pharmacy program
- Core Competencies & Technical Skills: Demonstrated skill in sterile/non-sterile medication preparation, aseptic technique, controlled substance auditing, automated dispensing technology, and computer systems proficiency.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Sterile & Cytotoxic Compounding: Utilize proper aseptic techniques in cleanroom environments to prepare oral, injectable, and IV admixtures, including cytotoxic and hazardous chemotherapy medications for oncology patient administration.
- Medication Filling & Distribution: Accurately fill, label, and distribute oral/injectable medication orders, manage medication cassettes, restock emergency crash carts, and deliver controlled substances following strict federal, state, and department policies.
- Inventory Control & Quality Compliance: Procure stock, perform perpetual inventory counts, maintain automated dispensing cabinets, log required environmental controls (refrigerator/eyewash logs), and audit controlled substance records.
- Team Collaboration & Patient Safety: Assist in training new pharmacy staff and students, handle investigational/study drug accountability, manage prescription sales, and maintain full compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
