Position Summary:

The Data Architect is responsible for the design, integrity, and governance of the firm’s analytical data environment. This role ensures data is structured, consistent, and reliable to support analytics, reporting, and decision-making across the organization. The Data Architect establishes and maintains data models, metrics, and governance frameworks to enable scalable, sustainable analytics platforms.

The firm has one available position in either Austin, TX, Bellevue, WA, Long Beach, CA, Portland, OR, Dover, OH, Atlanta, GA, Cleveland, OH, or Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Data Architecture & Design

• Design and maintain enterprise analytical data models and schemas
• Define canonical datasets, metrics, and business definitions
• Ensure alignment between source systems and analytical representations
• Guide architectural decisions across data platforms and tools

Data Governance & Stewardship

• Define data governance standards, roles, and processes
• Establish ownership and stewardship for key data domains
• Define data quality expectations and monitoring approaches
• Partner with business and systems teams to resolve data definition disputes

Partnership & Enablement

• Partner with Systems Product Managers to ensure source systems support data needs
• Collaborate with Data Engineers on implementation of architectural designs
• Support Business Intelligence (BI) Analysts by providing consistent, well-designed semantic layers
• Serve as the primary architectural interface to IT on data-related matters

Strategy & Roadmap

• Contribute to the firm’s data and analytics strategy
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities
• Evaluate new data technologies and patterns in alignment with firm needs

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Deep understanding of relational, dimensional, and modern analytics architectures.
• Ability to balance long-term architectural integrity with short-term delivery needs.
• Strong experience with data warehousing and analytical data pipelines.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working across business, systems, and engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in data modeling, analytics architecture, governance and proficiency in SQL and Python. Additionally, at least 3 years of experience with cloud data platforms and modern analytics tooling.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Azure data services (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse/Fabric, Snowflake). Familiarity with DevOps or CI/CD practices for data pipelines. Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI.

• Compensation: $90,000 to $121,000 depending on experience.  More is possible if experience dictates.
