Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including LTC and hospital prescriptions
- Assist with medication intake, verification, and documentation to ensure proper medication management
- Perform aseptic techniques for sterile compounding, including IV infusions and other critical care preparations
- Maintain thorough knowledge of medical terminology to accurately interpret prescriptions and communicate effectively with healthcare providers
- Support patient service initiatives by providing medication information and ensuring timely delivery of pharmaceuticals
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to medication handling, storage, and disposal
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate medication administration and optimize patient care outcomes
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated critical care experience, including handling acute care medications and IV infusions
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and medication safety standards
- Experience with medication administration processes within hospital or clinical settings
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations related to intake procedures and patient care workflows
- Proven ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) is advantageous but not mandatory for entry-level candidates willing to learn
