As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and driven Senior Accounting Manager to join our team and help ensure the financial success of our projects.Position Overview:The Senior Accounting Manager will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of Novin Development’s predevelopment and construction phases. You will oversee a broad range of accounting functions for Novin Development and Novin Construction, including general ledger activities, monthly reconciliations, cost certifications, and draw processes. This position requires close collaboration with project managers, external auditors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and accurate financial tracking of our construction projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possesses strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.Key Responsibilities:• Oversee the preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and the month-end close process for multiple entities, including Joint Ventures. • Manage monthly draw processes for external and internal funding, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments. • Review daily cash entries and maintain accurate construction financial files. • Prepare cost certification audits with external auditors and assist with annual audits. • Code and process accounts payable for construction projects using accounting software (QuickBooks Intuit) • Prepare project reports, including budget-to-actual variance analysis, and provide insights to project managers and senior leadership. • Reconcile project budgets, paid-to-date, and draw worksheets provided by lenders. • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual financial reports for cities, counties, and other public agencies. • Working with HR, ensure compliance with DIR (Department of Industrial Relations) for certified payroll reporting. • Prepare capital call requests for Joint Venture partners, as well as monthly and quarterly investor reports.Construction Accounting & Project Management Support:• Set up new construction projects in the accounting system (QuickBooks) and track financial progress throughout the construction lifecycle. • Review and reconcile payment application packages submitted by general contractors and consultants. • Prepare and manage draw packages, capital calls, and funding requests for lenders or investors. • Provide project managers with timely financial reports and updates on project budgets and expenses. • Assist in the preparation of project budgets, cash flows, and forecasts in collaboration with the development and project management teams.Vendor & Accounts Payable Management:• Accurately code and process a high volume of invoices for construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms. • Manage vendor communications, respond to inquiries, and ensure timely resolution of payment issues. • Maintain organized and accurate vendor files and records.Mentorship & Team Collaboration:• Mentor and support junior accounting staff, interns, and cross-functional teams. • Collaborate with senior leadership, including the President and Project Managers, to develop systems, procedures, and financial reporting processes. • Provide training and guidance to staff members as needed, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.• Represent Novin Development in public meetings, hearings, and engagements, working closely with the President and other senior leaders. • Develop and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, lenders, investors, and other partners.What You Need to Succeed:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on construction, real estate development, or affordable housing finance.Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and construction accounting.Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar (QuickBooks experience preferred).Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools.Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data and trends.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Experience with low-income housing finance, public-private partnerships, and construction cost certifications is highly preferred.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.Benefits:Hybrid Work Schedule: Work from home on Tuesdays and Fridays.Paid Time Off: 80 hours of vacation (increased with years of service) and 40 hours of sick leave.12 Paid Holidays.Health Insurance: Choose between Kaiser or Blue Anthem.Dental and Vision Insurance.$1,500 yearly Educational Stipend.401(k) Plan: 100% match up to 4% of base salary (vested after 2 years).Discretionary Bonus.This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts or working conditions associated with this job. Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
