We are seeking a confident, competent and self-motivated Construction Project Manager to join our dynamic GC team, Novin Construction. This role requires drive, flexibility and a can-do attitude to effectively manage acquisition, construction, budgets and schedules while elevating projects to the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
(Monday through Friday) in Walnut Creek, CA with frequent travel between job sites (Santa Cruz and Richmond)
Preconstruction
About the Position:
- Prepare estimates and assist with bidding.
- Assist with preparation of contraction documents.
- Develop scopes of work by trade for estimate comparisons and verification.
Project Oversight
- Observe and comply with all company safety practices including site specific documentation, job walks, and planning for major risk activities.
- Direct and assist PE/APM with RFIs, submittals, procurement, and other project documentation.
- Prepare and review subcontracts and oversee the buyout process.
- Partner with the Senior Project Manager and Superintendent to develop and monitor schedule.
- Stay informed of BIM process and assist as the need arises.
- Manage accounting and cost management for the project, including projections, change orders, pay applications, and commitments.
- Support the Superintendent to ensure permitting is in place for project.
Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, Inspectors and other project team members.
- Fairly manage disputes when they arise.
Management And Career Development
- Manage the Project Engineers and/or Assistant Managers on your job site.
- Assist with the development of team members by holding regular 1X1s, assisting with goal setting, and completing annual reviews.
- Provide motivation for the project team.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- 5-7 years in construction management required.
- Strong communication skills.
- Background: experience at a general contractor preferred. Experience with multi-family and institutional building preferred.
- Education: minimum 4-year degree required. Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Project, Excel, and Outlook required. Experience with BIM, OPC, and/or Procore is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel to project sites and across counties as needed.
- Frequent desk-based computer tasks, sitting or standing at ergonomic desks.
- Occasional standing, walking, lifting/carrying objects up to 15 pounds.
- May involve bending, kneeling, or heavy lifting.
