An established AISC-certified structural steel fabricator is hiring a Quality Control Inspector (QCI) to support ongoing and upcoming fabrication work. This is a shop-focused role suited to inspectors who understand steel fabrication, welding quality, and code compliance and who want long-term stability within a busy operation.
π§ The Role
The QCI will be responsible for ensuring fabricated steel components meet project specifications, applicable codes, and internal quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Visual inspection of welds, materials, and fabricated members
- Dimensional checks, fit-up inspections, and verification of tolerances
- Review of shop drawings, weld symbols, WPS/WPQRs, and inspection criteria
- Documentation of inspections, reports, and non-conformance items
- Coordination with fabrication, welding, and QA/QC leadership
β What Theyβre Looking For
- Prior QCI / QC / inspection experience in a structural steel fabrication environment
- Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1 (D1.5 a plus)
- Ability to confidently read shop drawings and weld symbols
- Experience working in AISC-certified shops strongly preferred
- CWI certification preferred but not required β strong shop-based QC experience will be considered

- $60,000 β $100,000 base salary, depending on experience, certifications, and level of responsibility
