Assistant Director/Teacher – Novato Parent’s Nursery School (Part-Time/Full-Time)
We are a play-based, Reggio Emilia inspired, community-focused co-op preschool seeking a warm, organized, and collaborative Assistant Director/Teacher to support our program. This role works closely with the Director and families to help create a positive, engaging environment for young children.
Program Overview:
We are a parent participatory preschool with a program running from 9:00-12:00. There is additional before school care from 8:00-9:00 and additional aftercare from 12:00-2:00. We are an outdoor program with a wonderful large space for children to move and explore.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to meet California Community Care Licensing requirements, including background clearance and health requirements
- Minimum of 12 ECE units required; additional coursework, especially in areas of ECE leadership or administration, is strongly desired.
- Holds or willingness to obtain appropriate CPR/First Aid certification
Desired Qualifications
- Lead teaching experience with children age 2-6.
- Shows a strong understanding of play-based, child-led learning and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Demonstrates strong skills in observation, documentation, and reflection, with the ability to clearly share and highlight children’s learning with families.
- Clear, respectful communication skills with children, families, and colleagues.
- Recognizes and values the benefits of working within a cooperative preschool model that encourages active parent participation.
- California Site Supervisor or Director Permit strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support daily school operations and assist the Director
- Provide classroom support and occasional coverage
- Help guide and train parent volunteers in the classroom
- Communicate with families and support a strong school community
- Assist with staff support, scheduling, and school events
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time or full-time (based on program needs)
- Some evening meetings may be required
- Pay based on experience
