What You'll Do

- Configure, deploy, and maintain Cisco network switches in line with our security and organizational standards
- Monitor network performance and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime
- Manage network segmentation, VLANs, and access control lists (ACLs)
- Perform firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration backups for network devices
- Work with operations and engineering teams to support network connectivity for critical infrastructure systems
- Serve as a primary point of contact for end-user hardware and software support, troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, peripherals, and software
- Manage software licensing, application deployment, and updates
- Maintain accurate records in the IT ticketing system, including support tickets, asset inventory, and resolution documentation
- Provide on-site technical assistance and coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed
- Provide technical support to engineering teams working in Linux-based environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and file systems on Linux servers and workstations
- Support engineering-specific tools and workflows running on Linux platforms
- Perform system monitoring, log analysis, and performance tuning
- Assist with scripting and automation to improve operational efficiency
- Monitor systems and networks for security threats, anomalies, and vulnerabilities
- Implement and enforce IT security policies, including endpoint protection, patch management, access controls, and password standards
- Conduct periodic security assessments and vulnerability scans, and coordinate remediation efforts
- Support compliance requirements for critical infrastructure environments
- Help promote security awareness and provide guidance to end users on safe computing practices
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field β Required
- 3 years of experience in IT support or systems administration, with a background in networking and end-user support β Required
- Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Cisco network equipment β Required
- Familiarity with IT security concepts, tools, and best practices in an enterprise or industrial environment β Required
- Experience with Hyper-V and Microsoft Active Directory β Required
- Experience supporting Linux-based environments, including command-line administration β Preferred
- Experience in a utility, energy, or critical infrastructure environment β Preferred
- Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent β Preferred
- CompTIA Security or equivalent IT security certification β Preferred
- Cisco switch configuration and administration β Required
- Windows OS support (10/11, Server) β Required
- TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols β Required
- IT ticketing and asset management systems β Required
- Endpoint security and antivirus/EDR tools β Required
- Active Directory and Group Policy administration β Required
- Linux OS administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar) β Preferred
- Shell scripting (Bash) or other scripting languages for automation β Preferred
- Vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) β Preferred
- Familiarity with NERC CIP or ICS/SCADA security frameworks β Preferred
- Travel: Up to 10% to support other NovaTech locations
