What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power System Engineer position at Novasphere Technology Solutions LTD.?
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Power Systems Electrical Engineer to design, implement, and optimize electrical infrastructure supporting critical energy assets — including pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities. You'll lead complex projects from concept through commissioning, apply advanced simulation and analysis tools, and drive safety-critical initiatives like arc flash mitigation. This role blends deep technical expertise in power distribution and high-voltage systems with project leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder communication.
Note: This is a power systems / electrical design role — not a controls, instrumentation, or automation position. Candidates from a Controls Engineering or PLC/SCADA background will not be considered.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize electrical systems and power distribution networks supporting critical infrastructure (pipelines, compressor stations, storage facilities)
- Lead power system studies and simulations using tools such as ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, or Simulink
- Implement safety measures including arc flash mitigation and fault detection systems
- Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and system layouts for new construction and facility upgrades
- Evaluate and specify high-voltage equipment, transformers, generators, and switchgear
- Support grid integration and renewable energy interconnection efforts
- Manage complex engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
- Support procurement processes for electrical equipment and materials, leveraging established vendor/supplier relationships
- Participate in commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, and other applicable codes and regulatory standards
- Lead small project teams and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver engineering solutions meeting business and customer needs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- OR Bachelor's in Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited, relevant field) active PE license 4 years of engineering experience in natural gas, data centers, or a related industry
- 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
- Working knowledge of electrical design codes (NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, etc.)
- Experience with power system design, analysis, and simulation tools (ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, Simulink, or similar)
- Knowledge of high-voltage equipment, transformers, generators, and switchgear
- Experience reviewing arc flash studies and implementing corrective/mitigation measures
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as a top priority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Project management experience
- Experience in Pre-FEED, FEED, or EPC execution of small-to-medium facility projects
- Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment
- Understanding of grid integration and renewable energy systems
- Established industry vendor/supplier network for electrical equipment procurement
Salary : $50 - $57
