Medical Assistant Limited X-Ray
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) – Limited X‑Ray supports clinical and administrative operations in a fast‑paced urgent care environment. This role works collaboratively with Medical Providers, Radiologic Technologists, and clinical team members to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
The MA – Limited X‑Ray performs limited capacity x‑ray procedures, supports patient flow, and completes clinical and administrative responsibilities accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with GoHealth’s mission and values.
Essential Functions
Limited X‑Ray Services
Perform limited x‑ray procedures as permitted under North Carolina regulations
Properly position patients and apply radiation safety and shielding protocols
Perform x‑rays of:
Upper extremities
Lower extremities
Chest
Communicate x‑ray results to Medical Providers in a timely manner
Complete daily equipment checks, quality assurance, and documentation
Troubleshoot radiology equipment issues and submit service requests as needed
Patient Registration & Front Desk Support
Register patients and collect required documentation and insurance information
Verify insurance eligibility and collect co‑payments
Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals
Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
Patient Preparation & Rooming
Prepare patients for examination and collect medical histories
Measure and record vital signs
Perform point‑of‑care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
Communicate patient flow and care needs to providers and team members
Administrative & Clinical Support
Maintain accurate documentation within the EHR
Conduct patient courtesy call‑backs
Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation
Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical and front‑desk areas
Inventory & Supplies
Stock exam rooms and clinical spaces
Monitor inventory levels and submit supply requests
Check expiration dates and ensure proper storage
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Graduate of a Medical Assisting program (preferred)
Experience
Medical Assistant experience required
Experience performing x‑rays preferred
Certifications & Licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) required (American Red Cross or AHA)
Limited Practice Radiographer certificate (required)
One of the following Medical Assistant certifications is required:
CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of urgent care and medical office workflows
Strong multitasking and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Service‑oriented mindset with strong patient focus
Proficiency with MS Office and electronic medical record systems
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced clinical environment
