What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extrusion Lead Operator position at Novalis US, LLC?
Duties and Requirements of the Job:
- Performs such individual assignments as the supervisor may direct; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department.
- Operates extrusion machines and does frequently adjustments to the equipment
- Record production and inspection data manually or in electronic storage devices.
- Train other operators as authorized.
- Load and unload materials and parts as needed.
- Check quality of product and visually inspect according to written SOP’s and training provided to the employee.
- Work under general supervision, performing routine manufacturing setups, maintain machine conditions, participate in basic troubleshooting.
- Flexible to transfer to other duties considered necessary to meet the needs of the business.
- Always wear appropriate safety protection and ensure compliance with Health & Safety policy and procedures.
- Maintain work area to established housekeeping standards.
- Strive to meet departmental goals and quality targets.
- Help identify and eliminate issues with safety, quality, and production.
- Lead and direct the daily operations of Extrusion.
- Coach and oversee Extrusion personnel with a goal to build a competent and empowered team.
- Foster an environment which values teamwork as well as personal responsibility and accountability.
- Demonstrate authentic leadership and physically perform all tasks.
- Ensure operational processes and procedures are properly followed.
- Perform preventative and corrective actions within the department.
Training, Knowledge and Experience (May Be Required or Preferred, at the discretion of the hiring team)
- High School diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to cross train and perform additional duties as needed.
- External Candidates preferably will have at least 6 months of extrusion operator experience or are fast learner who can adapt and learn new task quickly
- Able to read a tape measure and basic instructions.
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate.
- Experience in the LVT, hardwood, laminate or sheet die extrusion industry preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Working Conditions:
- Occasionally lifts and / or carries up to 50 pounds.
- Maneuvers in and around factory and / or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
- Some of work time is spent sitting, standing, walking, lifting and bending.
- Works within a manufacturing and laboratory setting and may be exposed to warm temperature.
- PPE will be provided and must be worn as required.
- 2nd Shift (3 PM-11 PM) M-F
