Software Engineer
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions that support Novacore’s Healthcare segment, Carbon Stop Loss Solutions. This includes operations from policy management and claims processing to customer service and data analytics. This role requires an individual with a blend of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
This position reports to the SVP, Engineering, but will have a dotted line/close reporting structure to the Carbon Stop Loss Solutions team as well. Ideally, this role will be located at Novacore's Conshohocken, PA Home Office, operating on a hybrid schedule.

Software Engineer
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions that support Novacore’s Healthcare segment, Carbon Stop Loss Solutions. This includes operations from policy management and claims processing to customer service and data analytics. This role requires an individual with a blend of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
This position reports to the SVP, Engineering, but will have a dotted line/close reporting structure to the Carbon Stop Loss Solutions team as well. Ideally, this role will be located at Novacore's Conshohocken, PA Home Office, operating on a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain software systems across Carbon Stop Loss's business lines, including ownership of the full application lifecycle from requirements through deployment and ongoing support.
- Lead the modernization of a core legacy platform (Microsoft Access/VBA) in collaboration with the Chief Actuary and COO, translating existing business logic into a scalable, maintainable architecture.
- Drive the production of internal applications in partnership with the COO, converting proof-of-concept tooling into reliable, supported systems that eliminate manual workflows and reduce operational risk.
- Design and implement data pipelines across business verticals (Managed Care and Employer Stop-Loss) to establish centralized, governed data access for reporting, analytics, and executive decision-making.
- Shepherd internal development initiatives from ideation through production — facilitating requirements gathering, technical scoping, building cycles, and deployment in partnership with subject matter experts and operational staff.
- Write well-structured and efficient code that is easy to understand and maintain.
- Analyze business processes and plans.
- Debug, analyze, develop, fix and test new and existing code that perform and deliver on a timely manner.
- Develop easy to use interfaces and better UX.
- Manage and update individual project status while collaborating with other team members.
- Prepare specifications and documentations on tasks and projects.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.)
- 2 years of experience developing and implementing software applications
- Understanding of Claude and AI based Development
- Solid engineering & troubleshooting skills
- Experience with building software for the web and cloud environments (Azure)
- Experience in software development in various languages (C#, Typescript, Python, etc.)
- Experience with Modern Web Frameworks, HTML/CSS, JavaScript and UI/UX design
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical staff
- Familiar with CICD / Build process and using git and GitHub, and JIRA and Agile Methodologies
- Familiar with Microsoft stack (including all o365 a plus)
- Insurance Industry experience is preferred
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team and to work on multiple projects simultaneously
