2nd Shift Maintenance Technician

Novacel is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of our manufacturing facility. This hands-on role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting production teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and motivated to continuously develop their technical skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues.

• Assist with equipment installations, setups, changeovers, calibrations, and adjustments to support production requirements.

• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and work orders within the CMMS system.

• Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before they impact production.

 

Production Support:

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions to minimize downtime.

• Collaborate with machine operators and production personnel to troubleshoot performance issues.

• Support machine startups, operational checks, and equipment optimization efforts.

• Maintain an organized inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.

 

Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all company safety policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and NFPA 70E standards.

• Adhere to and support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, arc flash, and other critical safety programs.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

 

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions.

• Recommend process and equipment improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and productivity.

• Support cost-reduction, waste-reduction, and energy-efficiency initiatives.

• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.

• Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.

• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may include heat, noise, dust, and required PPE.

• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including occasional overtime and weekends as needed.

• Technical certification, vocational training, or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical Technology, mechanical technology, or a related field.

• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

• Familiarity with PLCs, automation systems, sensors, and controls.

• Experience supporting continuous improvement or reliability-centered maintenance programs.
