We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our weight loss clinic in Charlottesville. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of clinical procedures, medical documentation, and patient care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our providers and registered dieticians by delivering exceptional patient service, managing medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment. Experience using Athena is a bonus!
This is an in office 8:00AM-5:00PM position. Full-Time position (32-40 Hours per Week).Please only apply if you are able to consistently work the Required shift without needing days off or a flexible schedule. Please also be within a 30 minute drive to downtown Charlottesville.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs, updating medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately by documenting medical histories, treatment plans, and procedural notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support medical office management by scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Provide patient education on medications, procedures, and post-treatment care while ensuring clear communication and compassionate service.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care tailored to individual needs.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in medical offices, outpatient clinics or hospital settings with exposure to dermatology, urgent care, or emergency medicine.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EHR/EHR systems (Athena Preferred) and medical documentation practices aligned with healthcare standards.
- Knowledge of pharmacology principles relevant to medication administration and patient care management.
- Hands-on experience with phlebotomy techniques, vital signs measurement, ICD coding, and medical terminology.
- Background working within medical offices or hospital environments such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or geriatrics is advantageous.
