Description:Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipOversee all daily shop operations including preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and inspections.Develop and manage maintenance schedules to maximize fleet availability and minimize downtime.Monitor shop productivity, technician efficiency, and turnaround times.Ensure high-quality repair standards through consistent quality control measures.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop shop supervisors, lead technicians, mechanics, and support staff.Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback and accountability.Partner with leadership on staffing, hiring, onboarding, and performance management.Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company safety policies.Maintain accurate maintenance records and regulatory documentation.Lead safety training initiatives and conduct audits to ensure compliance.Financial & Administrative ManagementManage shop budget, labor costs, and maintenance expenses.Analyze repair trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.Approve major repairs and vendor services when appropriate.Oversee parts inventory and procurement strategies to maintain operational readiness.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Operations, Safety, and Dispatch to ensure equipment readiness.Communicate repair timelines, equipment status, and operational impacts to stakeholders.Assist leadership with long-term equipment planning and lifecycle management.Requirements:QualificationsMinimum 7 years of diesel maintenance experience required.Minimum 3–5 years of leadership or management experience in a fleet or shop environment.Strong working knowledge of diesel equipment, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.Thorough understanding of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and fleet compliance requirements.Experience managing shop performance metrics, budgets, and labor efficiency.Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with maintenance management software (FleetRock, TMT, or similar).
