Primary Function:
Assist in supervising craft employees assigned to a particular construction project.
Typical Duties:
- Supervises craft workers assigned to area of responsibility, provide liaison between field engineering and crafts to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
- Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
- Ensure enough and correct material is onsite to perform the scheduled task up to 3 weeks in advance.
- Monitor work performance and productivity of crafts to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, help to implement safe work habits and correct unsafe work activities and notify superintendent of any unsafe working conditions.
- Work with Project Superintendent on identifying problems or issues with the construction documents in order to create Requests for Information (RFI’s).
- Manage progress and production through the use of daily job diaries and cost code reporting.
- Complete craft time cards to accurately reflect hours worked.
- Complete and/or assist with crew evaluations.
- Advise senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.; assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
- Maintain liaison with other departments, i.e., Purchasing, engineering, etc. as required to support, construction schedule.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Commercial/Industrial electrical foreman with trackable project history and increasing levels of responsibility.
- Working knowledge of, and proficiency with the operation of standard electrical tools and equipment such as: conduit threaders, benders, hole punch, ohm meter, volt meter, power tools and hand tools.
- Working knowledge of, and proficiency with the operation of standard construction equipment including forklifts, trenchers, compactors, cable pullers/tuggers, etc.
- Experience in underground distribution installation, rigid conduit installation, and electrical distribution equipment installation including Main Distribution Panels, Motor Control Centers and Transformers.
- General Knowledge of NEC code and requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to read, understand and interpret prints, plans and specifications.
- Current Electrician’s license/Journeyman Card.
- OSHA training 10 hour/30 hour preferred.
- Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings and other documents required.
- Ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance essential.
- Additional company training and career courses may be required.
- Willingness to travel preferred.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- Days and hours of work will depend on production schedule.
- Project is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Salary: $107,000 to $115,000 depending on experience, plus benefits, paid holidays, PTO and sick leave.
